Quadmark: December 2022 - August 2023
I joined Quadmark’s Storyline team in December 2022 to help tackle the increasing workload from Google, their key client.
Since then, I have worked on many GPS (Google People Services) and GRT (Google Retail Training) courses, as well as onboarding material for Avepoint and further retail training for Android and Samsung.
Because of my skills in other areas, especially design, animation, and English proofreading, I am frequently asked to assist with other areas of the business during periods of high workload, which I am happy to do so.
Pixel Switching Simulator
A training simulator designed for retail staff who sell Google Pixel phones. It gives an accurate and in-depth overview of how to transfer a customer's data from their old phone to their new Pixel.
This is a branching module with 5 paths to choose from:
-
From Android to Pixel via cable
-
From Android to Pixel via WiFi
-
From Android to Pixel via Backup
-
From iOS to Pixel via cable
-
From iOS to Pixel via WiFi
See the World with Google
A game made available to retail staff who work with Google products as an incentive to complete training available on the GRT (Google Retail Training) platform.
The game was built in GameMaker and embedded in Storyline as a web object. Storyline uses a piece of Javascript code to enable communication between Storyline and the game.
Samsung Data Transfer Simulator
A training simulator designed for retail staff who work with Samsung phones.
Customer research suggested that some people are concerned about data loss when transferring their personal data, such as contacts, photos and files, from an old phone to a new phone. Quadmark was able to address this concern by creating a training module that ensured staff were fully trained on the data transfer process.
AvePoint: Unleash the Power of You
Onboarding training for AvePoint - a Microsoft partner company that specialises in software that manages and protects data in Microsoft 365.
This is the Japanese localisation of the inital onboarding training, which educates new employees on the company's history and values. All assets were made in After Effects and Illustrator, and the whole thing was assembled in Articulate Storyline. It features four main levels, minigames, and collectibles hidden around each location.
Game Template 1: Dancing Game
A small game built entirely within Storyline, with assets made in Adobe Illustrator.
Made for Quadmark's IP catalogue, alondside dozens of other games as part of the company's new branding.
Game Template 2: Side-scrolling Jumping Game
A small game built entirely within Storyline, with assets made in Adobe Illustrator. Made for Quadmark's IP catalogue.
Game Template 3: Rotating Tile Puzzle
A small game built entirely within Storyline, with assets made in Adobe Illustrator. Made for Quadmark's IP catalogue.
An alternative version of this game that requires the learner to answer quiz questions every five clicks was built on request.
Game Template 4: Catch the Apples
A small game built entirely within Storyline, with assets made in Adobe Illustrator. Made for Quadmark's IP catalogue.
This was suggested as a way of introducing a brand or company's colour palette.
Limehouse Films: October 2020 - November 2022
I joined Limehouse around the same time the company began its first E-Learning project, which was a four part cyber security suite tailor-made for a well-known UK bank. When the first module was released, it was completed over 6,000 times in the first week with zero reported technical issues.
At the 2021 Learning Technologies Awards, Limehouse won the bronze award for Excellence in the Design of Learning Content (UK Commercial Sector).
Since that project, Limehouse has gone on to produce sixteen (and counting) new learning projects, both for new and returning clients. Below are some examples.
Cyber Security
A four-part suite of cyber security training courses, designed to be completed by all staff members of a UK bank. As the only E-Learning developer to work on this project, I played a central role its design and production, including 100% of the Storyline work. I was solely responsible for fixing bugs, glitches, and LMS compatibility issues.
This project won a bronze award for Excellence in the Design of Learning Content (UK Commercial Sector) at Learning Technology Awards in November 2021.

Cifas Fraud Defence Academy
World class digital learning designed to help businesses and individuals fight against fraud.
People are the first line of defence against fraud. With the right training, anyone can protect themselves and their organisation. Without it, anyone can become the weakest link.
Read more on the Cifas website.
Virtual School Trip
A fun, educational project designed for primary school children and marketed as a 'Virtual School Trip'. This project was made in a month, and I handled all the graphics, isometric animation, and Articulate Storyline work.
Children can explore a total of 12 areas across three locations: a dairy farm, a factory, and a wind farm.
They can also collect stickers by completing games and quizzes. If they manage to collect all the stickers, they can download and print a certificate.
NHS Learning Disability Awareness Training
Free training available to clinical staff within the NHS West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
The aims of the training are to help staff understand how to make reasonable adjustments for people with learning disabilities, and why doing so is important for their care.
ICG Earth Day
A promotional video for ICG's Invest in our Planet campaign, which aims to reduce their carbon emissions to net zero by 2040.
For this animation I created a storyboard in Illustrator, then animated it in After Effects. The total production time for this project was under two weeks.
NHS Morcambe Bay Hospital Trust
A piece of training that aims to revolutionise leadership culture within the Morcambe Bay Hospital Trust, with a focus on empathy, transparancy, collaboration and inclusion.
Virtual College Ltd: March 2015-September 2020
In 2015 I joined VC as a junior designer, where I was soon promoted to a full member of the design team. During my five years there, I had the opportunity to work on E-Learning projects with clients such as the NHS, Fujitsu, Buildbase, Stagecoach, MIND and many more.
National Govenor's Association: Arts Council
I was an instructional designer for this project, building the more complex slides while applying my 'designer's touch' to the overall design.
Stagecoach
I created the look and feel for this project, as well as a hefty chunk of the graphical assets.
Requirements for Electrical Installations -18th Edition
My main contribution to this project was dozens of photorealistic illustrations and animations.
Bedfordshire SEND
I created the look and feel for this project. As per the client's request, this design has a more corporate feel to it, with its white background and black text/navigation.
Bright Horizons
I created the look and feel for this project, along with all the graphical assets.
Fujitsu
Explainer videos were a huge part of the Fujitsu project, many of which were made by me.
I made extensive use of the DUIK plugin for After Effects to create these animations.
Vocational Open Online Course (VOOC)
A free suite of modules created by Virtual College. My role in the VOOC project was to create backgrounds and assist with build production.
Parental Mental Health
This project was part of Virtual College's catalogue of pre-made courses. I was an artworker and instructional designer for this one.
Marie Collins Foundation
A series of kinetic text videos commisioned by the Marie Collins Foundation. I did this one.
Virtual College Ready-To-Go (RTG) Courses
In 2019-2020, we revamped our catalogue courses to reflect our new branding. Here are a selection of explainer videos and scenarios I made as part of our Safeguarding Suite.
Buildbase
This was a small, time-sensitive project which I took on both as an Instructional Designer and Graphic designer. I was able to complete the build roughly one hour before the deadline.
NHS Statutory Mandatory Training
A suite of 26 modules covering subjects such as Fire Safety and Customer Care.
I lended my Storyline 360 expertise and asset creation skills to this project.
Debranded Project #1
As per the wishes of this client I have removed their logo and any identifying information from this slideshow.
During this project, my primary tasks were to build and optimise the modules, create graphical assets and create downloadable PDF resources in InDesign.
Freelance
I am frequently approached by local charities and organisations in need of promotional material such as logos, posters and leaflets. Below are some examples.

Cinema 4D Training
While I used Autodesk Alias on a daily basis while at University, my career at Virtual College generally didn't involve 3D work. To remedy this, I began learning Cinema 4D in my spare time.

Technically this was a school project completed in 2010, but I've been maintaining it voluntarily ever since.
Created for St John Fisher and Thomas Moore Church in Burley-in-Wharfedale.
